Make a Referral
Those who work in Home Health care as nurses, Care givers and aides may often interact with persons who are experiencing emotional distress such as anxiety, depression, and moodiness. It is times like this that we want to be able to partner with you to help meet the full needs of these individuals in order to help them cope well in difficult times
When should I refer someone for counseling?
You should consider referring someone to counseling if they are exhibiting one of the following behaviors:

Feeling sad, angry, or otherwise not themselves

Loss of someone or something important to them

They have had a traumatic experience

Loss of interest in things they like to do

Isolation/Avoiding Social situations

Difficulty maintaining relationships

Always berating themselves
-
Taking responsibility for other people’s problems

They display feeling of hopelessness/helplessness
-
Irritability, agitation, memory problems, and/or inability to concentrate due to stress

Physical symptoms that medical tests don’t explain
-
Easily triggered
-
Panic/Anxiety attacks
-
Threats of harm to themselves/others
-
Inability to follow through on responsibilities
How can I suggest that someone seek counseling?
Demonstrate care and compassion to the client, let them know you want to see them doing well:

Describe the behaviors and statements that concern you

Give your reason for making the referral

Ask for feedback from the person being referred

Reassure them about counseling
-
Make the referral
